Tummy Tuck Atlanta

Are you considering a tummy tuck in Atlanta?

Do you have that impossible-to-lose “pooch” below your navel even though you diet? Has pregnancy ruined your once flat stomach? Have you exercised until you’re exhausted but still can’t get rid of your round tummy? It may be time to consider a tummy tuck.

Atlanta plastic surgeon Dr. Andrew Jimerson offers tummy tuck surgery, also known as abdominoplasty, for patients who want a flatter and more toned-looking tummy.

Why a tummy tuck could be right for you

This is a problem that many women experience. We know that as a mother, you’re always on the go, and it’s far too easy to always do for others without making time for yourself. Then, before you know it, you discover stretch marks, loose skin, and that “pooch” – all leftovers from pregnancy and taking care of everybody else. Worst of all, no matter how many crunches, sit-ups, and other abdominal exercises you do, your stomach just won’t become flatter. So, you find yourself avoiding bathing suits and some of the clothes you used to love wearing. But it doesn’t have to be that way!

A tummy tuck in Atlanta (also called abdominoplasty) might be just the answer for you. Dr. Andrew Jimerson is a board-certified plastic surgeon and the Division Chief of Plastic Surgery at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. He has performed countless successful tummy tucks in two varieties: mini tummy tuck and full tummy tuck. Because of Dr. Jimerson’s expertise and special pricing, people from all over the country travel to Atlanta to get tummy tucks in the state-of-the-art facility at Advanced Plastic Surgery Solutions.

I moved to the Atlanta area 2 1/2 years ago. I scheduled a procedure (tummy tuck and lipo) with Dr. Jimerson. To feel safe, I thought I should have at least three days of 24 hour care. I didn’t want to bother friends or neighbors. Carol at Dr. Jimerson’s office recommended Homewatch Caregivers. I gave Michael Lloyd – president a call. Michael Lloyd and Melody Ricks, Director of Community Outreach met me in my home. We discussed how much care and which services I would need. (They have a huge list; from transportation to and from the doctor’s office
to things like meal preparation , grocery shopping, housekeeping, etc..) I was introduced to my caregiver – Mina prior to the surgery. Michael, Melody, and Mina made the whole experience very smooth. I had three days of 24 hour care, then gradually tapered off. They listen and work with you. I highly recommend Homewatch caregivers, especially for “out of towners” who want security and safety.

Combining your tummy tuck with other procedures

A tummy tuck in Atlanta can also be combined with other procedures like a breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lift, or liposuction for what is sometimes referred to as a “mommy makeover.”

How will you look after your tummy tuck surgery?

The excess skin on your abdomen will have been removed, and you will have a flatter, firmer stomach. Your clothes will fit better, and you will feel and see a dramatic change in your appearance.

Will anyone else know you had surgery? No! They will probably just say, “You look great!” or ask you, “Did you lose weight?”

What can you expect during a tummy tuck consultation in Atlanta?

Dr. Jimerson will meet with you to discuss your goals for your figure and what results you can expect. He will also ask you about your medical history, including any previous surgeries and pregnancies.

He will examine your abdomen thoroughly, checking for evidence of a hernia and checking your muscle tone and excess skin. He will then show you what skin will be removed during your procedure and will take a photograph of your abdomen.

Can you have a phone/virtual consultation?

This is an option to help you make a decision about a tummy tuck, but you must have an in-person examination before the procedure. If you are ready to have a beautiful flat stomach, please call or e-mail our office today to discuss your tummy tuck.

What is a Tummy Tuck ?

This is for people with a small amount of loose skin below the navel. Through a bikini line incision, the excess skin is removed without cutting around the navel. The lower abdominal wall is tightened. Sometimes this procedure is combined with liposuction.

This is for people with a bit more skin to remove. An incision is made around the navel and in the bikini line. A large portion of skin is then removed. The belly button is then placed in the proper position.

What is a Mini Tummy Tuck?

This is for people with a small amount of loose skin below the navel. Through a bikini line incision, the excess skin is removed without cutting around the navel. The lower abdominal wall is tightened. Sometimes this procedure is combined with liposuction.

Preparing for your tummy tuck (abdominoplasty in Atlanta):

  • The day of your surgery, you will need to bring someone with you who can drive you home. This is because you will be given a general anesthetic to make you fall asleep, and you will still feel sleepy after the procedure.
  • If you are a smoker, you will be asked to stop smoking for at least one month prior to your tummy tuck and for at least one month after surgery. This is because smoking makes anesthesia more risky and gets in the way of the healing process.

Recovery from your tummy tuck:

  • Dressings will be placed on your incisions, and you may have to wear an elastic bandage for a short time.
  • A tube may also be placed under the skin for a few days to catch any fluid or blood drainage.
  • Your stitches are absorable and will not have to be removed..
  • You will experience some swelling, bruising, and pain during the week following your tummy tuck. This pain is easily managed with prescription medications.
  • You must sleep st an angle on several pillows or a recliner for about a week to avoid stretching the incisions and tightened skin.
  • You can go back to your normal activities within two weeks.
  • You should be able to exercise in about six weeks but check with Dr. Jimerson first.
  • Due to the swelling, you may not be able to see the full results of your surgery right away. Be patient – you will be able to see a flatter stomach after a week or two, and your appearance will gradually improve even more over a period of months.
  • You will have some scarring as a result of the incisions, particularly with a full tummy tuck, and these may get worse before they get better. They will lighten and become smooth within a few months, however, and they can be hidden under clothing. Dr. Jimerson can prescribe a scar lightener to help minimize scarring.
  • If you have traveled to Atlanta from out of town, plan on staying for at least a couple of days after surgery and returning in about two weeks for your appointment.

Your new look:

  • You will have a flatter, smoother stomach, and you will look slimmer – like you lost weight.
  • Your clothes will fit better, and you will feel much more confident!
  • You may opt for a “mommy makeover” which will allow Dr. Jimerson to sculpt your body through liposuction and possibly other procedures, such as breast augmentation, a breast lift, or breast reduction.
