Advice Before Surgery?

Q:  I’m 5’1″ and weigh 160lbs. I am really considering a bbl to shape my butt. I also want to loose at least 30 lbs but I’m not sure if it is best to loose them before or after the surgery. I don’t want my future weight loss to affect my results but I also want to have enough fat to get great results. I guess my question is how much do I need to weigh in order to get the best results based on my height and still have some room to loose weight and look great after.

A:  The issue with the Brazilian Butt Lift is fat stores.  It is impossible to judge how much fat you have without seeing you.  2 people the exact same height and weight can have different amounts of harvestable fat on their bodies.  In general, I think my patients that have surgery when they are 10-15 lbs over their goal weight have the best results – in fact, many of them opt not to lose any more weight after the surgery because they are pleased with the reshaping! I think your best bet at this point is to have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon now.  After seeing you, he or she will be able to guide you about weight loss.  Best of luck!
