FAQ about tummy tucks

Is a tummy tuck right for me? (Am I a candidate for an abdominoplasty?)

  • If you are at your ideal weight, but still have loose skin on your abdomen, a tummy tuck may be right for you
  • Because pregnancy stretches the abdominal muscles, ideal candidates for a tummy tuck are done with childbearing

What should I expect during the physical exam portion of my consultation?

  • I will examine your abdomen thoroughly. I will check for abdominal muscle tone and skin looseness. I will also check you for a hernia in the belly button before your tummy tuck.
  • I will photograph your abdomen prior to tummy tuck surgery

What are the various types of tummy tucks?

  • A mini tummy tuck is for people with a small amount of loose skin below the navel. Through a bikini line incision I am able to remove excess skin without cutting around the navel
  • A regular tummy tuck is for people with a bit more skin to remove. During a classic tummy tuck I cut around the navel and bring a large portion of skin down through a bikini line incision. I then make a hole and bring the belly button through.
