Breast Augmentation in Atlanta:Here are just a few benefits:
|
If you fall into one of these categories, and you’re ready to make a significant change in your appearance by having fuller, sexier breasts, then I would recommend that you visit our practice, Advanced Plastic Surgery Solutions, in our new facility in John’s Creek, Georgia to discuss breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammaplasty. This could be the first step toward realizing your desired goal.
Breast augmentation uses implants to create larger, fuller breasts and is one of the most common cosmetic surgeries performed in the U.S. Many women find that enhancing their figure with breast augmentation helps their clothes fit better and helps them feel sexier and more attractive.
In addition to cosmetic reasons, breast augmentation is also performed for breast reconstruction. During this procedure, an implant is used to recreate one breast that is severely underdeveloped or to recreate one or both breasts after surgical removal for treatment of breast cancer.
You will meet Dr. Jimerson in person to discuss your goals for your figure. He will examine your breasts thoroughly, checking for any lumps, and he will ask questions about your medical history and any medications, herbs, or supplements that you might be taking. You will then try on several different implant sizes to decide the best size for you.

Time involved, anesthesia, recovery time and other things involved in breast augmentation:
Yes, Dr. Jimerson can provide you with recommendations based on photographs of your breasts that you email to him. An in-person examination will have to be conducted prior to your procedure, but you can decide whether to proceed based on your phone and email communications with the doctor.
What happens during a breast augmentation?
Breast implants are inserted behind the tissue of the breast, and the incisions are made in different places depending on the results you want. The incision locations that Dr. Jimerson recommends using most often are either in the bottom crease of the breast or where the colored part of the nipple meets the lighter skin of the breast. The goal is always to create as small an incision as possible in an area where the scar will be hidden.
What are the different types of breast implants?
Today, breast augmentation can sometimes be achieved by taking fat from other parts of your body – usually the buttocks or thighs. This is called breast augmentation fat transfer. With this type of augmentation, your own body’s excess fat is being used, and it allows Dr. Jimerson to literally reshape your body.
The most commonly used implants are:
Saline breast implants, which are filled with salt water after they have been implanted. These are the least expensive type of implants, and if you have enough breast tissue already, the results are excellent.
Silicone breast implants, which are filled with a silicone gel rather than salt water. The type of silicone has changed over the years so that it is safer today than in the past. The advantage of silicone is that it feels more like natural breast tissue.
During your consultation, Dr. Jimerson will discuss these options with you in detail so that you can make the best decision for you.

• Breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia.
• Most patients go home the same day, but you must bring someone with you to drive you home, as you will still feel sleepy after your procedure.
• It is not safe to operate on you if you are a smoker. Dr. Jimerson insists that breast augmentation patients stop smoking at least one month prior to surgery and for one month after surgery. Smoking greatly increases the risks of anesthesia and impedes healing after breast implants.
• If you’re pregnant, you should wait about six months (if you are nursing, wait about 6 months after cessation of nursing) before you have your augmentation so that your breasts have had time to return to the size they’re going to stay after your pregnancy (which may or may not be the exact same size as before your pregnancy).
• You will need to wear a bra around the clock for the first 2 weeks following your breast augmentation.
• You should expect mild to moderate pain during the first week after your procedure. This is easily controlled with prescription pain medication.
• You can resume normal daily activities after 1-2 weeks and can start exercising after 4-6 weeks.
• You will have fuller, shapelier breasts immediately following your breast augmentation
• Your implants may take several weeks to settle into their permanent position.
• Many women combine breast augmentation with other cosmetic procedures such as a breast lift, tummy tuck, or liposuction for full body contouring.
