Do you have a few stubborn areas of fat that will not go away despite diet and exercise? Many of my patients tell me they hate having bulges under their clothes. Others are embarrassed by their shorts "riding up" between their thighs. Liposuction is a procedure designed to solve these very problems.
During liposuction small incisions (about 1/4 inch long) are made in the skin. I then place a fluid with local anesthetic into the fat to be removed. This liquid helps reduce pain and blood loss. I am then able to remove the fat with suction.

What are the various types of liposuction?
- Tumescent liposuction utilizes a fluid injected into the fat to loosen it and aid in removal
- Ultrasonic liposuction uses ultrasound to loosen the fat before removing it
LIPOSUCTION PROCEDURE OVERVIEW:
Is liposuction permanent? Can the removed fat come back?
- Although adults do not create new fat cells, our existing fat cells have a limitless capacity to expand
- This means that you CAN re-accumulate fat in areas that have had liposuction
- Liposuction is not used for weight loss
- It is important to maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise after liposuction because fat can come back
Time involved, anesthesia, recovery time and other things involved in liposuction:
- I perform liposuction under minimal sedation or general anesthesia.
- Most patients can go home the same day.
After your liposuction:
- During the first week after liposuction you should expect bruising and swelling.
- Most of my patients have mild to moderate pain that is controlled by prescription pain medicine.
- Can resume normal daily activities 2 weeks after liposuction
- You can resume exercising 4-6 weeks after liposuction.
Your new look:
- Although you will see an immediate improvement in, the final result of liposuction will be evident after all the swelling has resolved, about 6-12 months after surgery.
- I often perform liposuction at the same time as other procedures such as breast reduction, breast lift, breast augmentation, tummy tucks and facelifts.
