I have many different methods of performing a lip augmentation, both permanent and temporary. Some of my patients prefer temporary measures such as fat injection from their own body, or Restylane injection. Others prefer a one-time permanent approach. For these patients, I insert a non-absorbing collagen (Alloderm) material into their lips to create permanent fullness that does not fade.
I perform lip augmentation under local anesthesia or with minimal sedation. The surgery can be performed in my office and you will be able to go home the same day. Lip augmentation surgery lasts about 30 minutes. Most of my patients report that swelling resolves within the first week. Pain is minimal and is easily controlled with over the counter medications. You will be able to resume your regular activities, including work, the day of or after your lip augmentation. Your recovery process will depend upon the type of lip augmentation selected.
