Face Lift
Atlanta, Georgia (Johns Creek)
Are you considering a facelift?
Are you tired of jowls or embarrassed by the "cord" on your neck? Do you want to reverse the wrinkling effects of age, sun exposure and gravity on your face? Many of my patients ask me how to correct these problems. While a facelift can't stop the natural aging process, it can improve the visible signs of aging by removing excess skin and tightening sagging muscles.
What are the benefits of a face lift?
A face lift can return your skin to its youthful tightness and smoothness, making you look years, even decades, younger! A face lift will also rejuvenate the upper neck. The loose neck muscles that cause the cords are tightened and the neck skin is lifted as well.
What should I expect during my face lift consultation?
Because there are many cosmetic issues that can affect the face and neck, it is important that we have a personalized consultation. During our meeting you can share your concerns with me. Once I learn your goals, we can determine if a face lift is right for you. It is helpful if you bring older photos with you. Seeing you in your prime helps me to design a surgical plan that can reverse some of the aging process.
Frequently asked questions about face lift surgery
Is face lift surgery right for me? (Am I a candidate for a face lift?)
- A face lift can tighten loose skin of the cheeks and neck
What should I expect during the physical exam portion of my consultation?
- I will perform a detailed examination of your face
- I will lift your skin to demonstrate your anticipated result for you
- I will photograph your face prior to face lift
What are the various types of face lift surgery?
- A brow lift removes excess forehead skin and elevates the eyebrows to a more youthful position
- A mid face lift is used to correct a deep fold between the nose and mouth (nasolabial fold)
- A face lift removes excess skin around the cheeks and chin
- A neck lift tightens neck muscles and repairs cords
Face Lift Procedure Overview:
Time involved, anesthesia, recovery time and other things involved in face lift:
- I begin a face lift with incisions made along the hairline at the temples that extend down in front of the ear and continue behind the earlobe to the lower scalp.
- If excess skin needs to be removed from the neck, a small incision may be made under the chin.
- Excess skin is removed, and the remaining skin and muscles are tightened and smoothed.
- A face lift is performed under general anesthesia
- The time involved in face lift surgery depends on the condition of your skin and the number of procedures required
- It is not safe to operate on you if you are a smoker. I insist that my face lift patients stop smoking at least one month prior to and for one month after surgery. Smoking greatly increases the risk of anesthesia and impedes healing after a face lift.
After your face lift surgery:
- After your face lift is complete, your head may be wrapped in bandages to minimize bruising and swelling.
- Bruising, swelling, and tightness may be some side effects of your face lift, but my patients generally report little discomfort after their procedure is complete.
- I will prescribe pain medicine to minimize your discomfort
- You can return to work 2 weeks after your face lift
Your new look:
- I can perform a face lift alone or in conjunction with other procedures such as a brow (forehead) lift, mid face lift or rhinoplasty (nose job).
